This course is closed to the public and designed for government finance and accountability professionals in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. With funding support from the Project to Strengthen Budget Execution and Financial Reporting Systems (PFM) courses are available free of charge for RMI government PFM professionals. The course fee is waived and there is no cost to register and attend. Professionals who do not meet the above criteria, please contact [email protected].

Course Description

This 3-day virtual course addresses compliance requirements and includes coverage of the Single Audit, findings, and corrective action plans. The grant reporting function and process are also reviewed as are the links to the governmental accounting system. Participants will leave the course with improved knowledge and skills in understanding the Single Audit Report and taking appropriate action.

The structure of this course calls for 3 3-hour virtual sessions over the course of a week.

What You Will Learn

After successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify the audit and compliance requirements applicable to governments and federal grant recipients.
Describe the basic concepts of internal control as they apply to federal grant management and transaction processing.
Develop an effective corrective action plan to address and “fix” an audit finding.

Who Should Attend

Financial reporting and accounting personnel from governmental departments, agencies, and component units. Auditors.

Dr. Yamamura (CPA, PhD) brings to more than thirty years of experience in industry and academia to the PITI-VITI training team. She is licensed as a CPA in California and Nevada, and teaches a variety of custom-built courses to Pacific and Virgin Islands professionals.
