Course Description
In this session, we will explore the importance of accountability in the role of oversight professionals. The benefits of having a culture of accountability within an organization include increased transparency, improved decision making, and enhanced trust. We will discuss the key accountability principals and demonstrate how audit organizations have applied these concepts. The session will also include practical tips and strategies for setting clear expectations, promoting open communication, and implementing effective performance evaluation systems.
Learning Outcomes:
APIPA conference sessions are intended for island government accountability professionals. Audit, budget, finance, accounting, and related management and staff members will find interest and value in this presentation.

Kathleen R. Sedney is the Acting Chief of Staff for the U.S. Department of Interior Office of Inspector General, and prior to this was the Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations. She has approximately 20 years of experience as an auditor and forensic accountant and has led audits and investigations related to contracts, foreign assistance, financial management, and physical security.
