Course Description
This 4-hour workshop delivered in 2-hour sessions over 2 days (4 CPE) addresses common ethical problem areas for government employees. It focuses on the importance of culture in maintaining an ethical work environment. Topics covered include: 1) use of government position; 2) conflict of interest – financial; 3) impartiality; 4) seeking other employment; 5) outside activities; and 6) gifts. Examples of applicable statutes and regulations are incorporated into the presentation. The workshop is case based with extensive participant discussion throughout the workshop.
The structure of this course calls for 2-hour daily virtual sessions over a two-day period. Note that full CPE credit is available only for participants who attend the entire workshop.
After successful completion of this workshop, participants will be:
Personnel from governmental departments and agencies, component units, universities, and non-profit organizations including accountants, grant and program managers, procurement, budget and administrative staff.
With funding support from the United States Department of the Interior, Office of Insular Affairs, courses are available free of charge for government accountability professionals within the insular areas. Dr. Yamamura (CPA, PhD) brings to more than thirty years of experience in industry and academia to the PITI-VITI training team. She is licensed as a CPA in California and Nevada, and teaches a variety of custom-built courses to Pacific and Virgin Islands professionals.
