Course Description
Effective grants management requires strong internal controls, compliance with grant requirements, and sound stewardship of public and private funds throughout the grant lifecycle. Learn the principles, practices, and requirements of grants management, including pre-award planning, application and award processes, financial and programmatic oversight, monitoring, reporting, closeout, and records retention. Explore methods for ensuring compliance with grant agreements, applicable regulations, and organizational policies; identifying and mitigating risk; and strengthening accountability through effective internal controls and documentation. Course material is aligned with leading grants management practices and applicable federal grant requirements.
• Identify and apply key grants management principles, requirements, and responsibilities throughout the grant lifecycle.
• Describe the phases of grants management, including pre-award, award, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and closeout, and the controls required at each stage.
• Apply appropriate methods to monitor grant performance, manage financial and programmatic requirements, and maintain compliance with grant terms and applicable regulations.
• Describe common grants management risks, internal controls, documentation requirements, and strategies to prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and noncompliance.
