Course Description
To ensure accountability, compliance, and effective stewardship of grant and contract funds, audits must be conducted using sound methodologies supported by appropriate standards, evidence, and internal controls. Learn the principles, processes, and requirements for auditing grants and contracts, including planning, risk assessment, compliance testing, internal control evaluation, financial and programmatic review, and reporting of findings and recommendations. Explore methods for identifying questioned costs, assessing compliance with grant and contract requirements, evaluating performance and financial management practices, and documenting audit results. Course material is aligned with applicable auditing standards, grant requirements, and leading oversight practices.
• Identify and apply auditing principles, standards, and requirements relevant to grant and contract audits.
• Describe the phases of grant and contract auditing, including planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, compliance testing, internal control evaluation, and reporting.
• Apply appropriate methods to assess compliance with grant agreements, contract terms, laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including identifying questioned costs and control deficiencies.
• Describe the purpose, methods, and documentation requirements for audit evidence, findings, recommendations, and corrective action related to grants and contracts.
