Virtual

This virtual course will be delivered regionally via Zoom.

Registration is open to insular government professionals.

Course Description

Government organizations perform well when they have talented and committed employees. Decades of research have shown that improving the engagement of employees will enable government to:

  • Achieve strategic goals;
  • Improve productivity;
  • Provide responsive customer service;
  • Hire and retain talented employees;
  • Develop innovative solutions; and
  • Boost attendance.

COVID-19 has resulted in enormous changes to the workplace. While some may view this as a short-term response to a crisis, this may actually be a permanent shift in how and where work is performed. Bob, the author of “Engaging Government Employees,” the first book to focus on employee engagement in the unique environment of government, will facilitate a four-hour workshop (two sessions of two hours each) on:

  • What employee engagement is and why it matters in government, including in financial management;
  • The factors that drive employee engagement;
  • The characteristics of the new world of work;
  • A roadmap for improving engagement in this new working environment; and
  • What a culture of engagement is.
