Sarah Markley holds the role of Director, International Engagement at the Office of the Auditor-General of New Zealand. As Director Sarah leads our work with the PASAI Secretariat by contributing to PASAI’s programmes, administration, and twinning support to SAIs Cook Islands and Samoa. She also supports the Auditor-General in his role as Auditor-General of the Governments of Niue and Tokelau. Sarah is also responsible for all of the Office’s international engagement and regularly facilitates the programmes for visiting delegations. In her time at the Office of the Auditor-General Sarah has led the completion of the New Zealand SAI PMF assessment in 2016 and has led the rollout of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee IntoSAINT tool in the PASAI region.
Sarah is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of public sector audit experience. She has worked in operational financial audit roles including at a management level, and in the Office’s sector team focusing on leadership of audit issues in the local government sector. Sarah played a major role in the development of our local authority long-term plan audit methodology as well as subsequent implementation and reporting from the first application of the legislation to the 2018.
