DIANNE RAY, CPA is Colorado's State Auditor and is responsible for overseeing independent audits and reviews that hold government agencies accountable and promote positive change in government. As head of the Office of the State Auditor (Office), she leads a staff of 75 experienced professionals who conduct performance, financial, and IT audits and evaluations and track independent audits of local governments in the state. Under Dianne’s leadership as State Auditor the Office has received 13 national awards for audits and evaluations. In 2016 the Office was named the “Healthiest Employer” in the small company category by the Denver Business Journal.
Dianne has extensive experience in senior-level management positions and was the recipient of the 2015 award for top public administrator in Colorado, presented by the University of Colorado School of Public Affairs. She was also named one of three “2012 Women to Watch” in the Experienced Leader category by the Colorado Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
Dianne is a member of the US Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards and the Domestic Working Group. She is a past President of the National State Auditors Association and a member of the Board of the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Chair of the Audit Committee, and former Board Chair.
Dianne holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Arizona State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Colorado and Arizona.

This two-hour session will convene an expert panel of auditors to consider past audit work on U.S. COVID spending, the current opportunities and challenges for COVID auditing, and the future of COVID audits in the region. Island auditors will find the program both timely and important in supporting their accountability mission.
